Hayle River Community Project

Cornwall Council is working with the Environment Agency to create a plan for the future of the Hayle River. We will look at current footpaths and think of ideas for flood protection and habitat creation.

You may have noticed sections of the footpath have been closed due to erosion. This is because the river is now starting to follow its natural route again.

We need options to protect these footpaths and look for alternative routes if needed. We will also look at flood defences on the river.

Within this project we’d like to work together effectively across the Cornwall Council, Environment Agency, Parish Councils and the local community. To help design the project, Cornwall Council is holding a workshop to present our initial plan and gather feedback from the local community. All welcome; please come and hear from the project team and share your thoughts.
