Portrait Workshop with Hugh Appleton

@Passmore Edwards Institute, 13-15 Hayle Terrace, Hayle TR27 4BU
£20 per person
In this workshop you’ll learn how to draw a portrait without tracing or using a grid. We’ll talk about some useful ‘rules of thumb’ that will get you half way there, then look at techniques, tricks and tips to finish the job. Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. Equipment and materials are all provided. Just bring curiosity and bags of enthusiasm!
Who is this workshop for?: This workshop is ideal for anyone wanting to improve their drawing or painting skills by learning exactly what information to look for, how to make accurate observations, how to overcome the tricks our minds play on us, and how to record what you’ve observed with effective mark-making. We all have a well-tuned instinct for whether a drawn face looks ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, which makes portrait-drawing the very best way to learn from our mistakes. There will be lots, and the more there are, the more you’ll learn!
Hugh will supply all materials required.
