Autumn is here and changes are afoot at Hayle Library, Sally and Sue will be leaving after more than 20 years in the Library Service.  We’d like to thank all the lovely people who have helped us over the years; we couldn’t have done it without you!  We will both miss our colleagues and customers who have always made it a joy to come to work. We’ll be going out with a bit of a bang so please join us for tea, coffee and happy memories on our last day, Friday November 4th.

We are very excited to be hosting a local author book launch and signing on Friday 7th October from 11.30 – 2.30 selling at £14.99.  I’m sure there will be lots of interest in “Hayle in World War Two” by Brian Sullivan, published by Toni Carver.  Everyone welcome, teas and coffees will be served.

As lots of you will have heard, The One Stop Shop will be moving into the Library, we don’t know any firm dates yet but everyone is looking forward to this new venture.

We never forgot that children are our future and we have enjoyed seeing so many join our Summer Reading Challenge. 

Abi entertains the younger children every Wednesday 3.45 – 4.45pm with stories and crafts and lots of fun, everyone welcome.

5 public access computer terminals with fast Broadband Internet
A free half hour each day for library members.
Children and concessionary members one free hour and two extra if no one is waiting to use them.
For members any extra time, charges are 90p for half an hour
Non members £1.80 per each half hour
Computer lessons are available at all libraries and offer informal one-to-one instruction with qualified and experienced trainers on a range of subjects, tailored to your specific needs for £3.60 an hour.

Stock

At Hayle library we stock the latest fiction and non-fiction books, talking books, DVD’s, Games and a small collection of Nintendo games and books.
(there is a hire charge for all audio visual items)

There you can browse our catalogue and order items on line.
Reservations are 50p if you order on line, 50p on a
Concessionary tickets and 75p with an adult ticket if you order at the library.
Free reservations for children.

Hayle Library last year issued a massive 103,472 books and 3,898 other items.

Come along and meet our friendly staff - we can help with all kinds of enquiries and it’s FREE to join.

Hayle Tourist Information Centre is based in Hayle Library.

The TIC is manned four and a half days a week, open library hours and the friendly staff can provide a host of useful information:

• Bus timetables – routes and information
• Checking on accommodation and availability enquiries/bookings
• Knowledge of local places of interest, walks and eating places
• Leaflets, maps and guides
• Visitors can also use the library facilities.
• If visitors bring their home library cards they are entitled to the same concessions as residents at any English Library
• Visitors with cards can borrow books, DVDs, talking books and the first half hour free if using our computers -for any extra time it is 90p each extra half hour.
• Use of computers for non members is £3.60 per hour
• If you want to borrow books and you do not have your home library card, a refundable £10.00 deposit is required.

Reading Group
Every 1st Wednesday of the month at 2.00pm, a friendly group and new members are always welcome

U3A Writing Group
Meets every other Thursday at 10.00am a very entertaining and interesting group - new members always welcome. The group will restart at 10.00am Thursday 2nd of September. If you would like to join this group please contact Chris 01736-759558.
