Hayle Open Air Swimming Pool

The pool opened to the public seven days per week on 24 June 2017 and closed on 10 September, although an extension to the season had been granted for the weekends 16/17 and 23/24 September so doors finally closed for the season on 24 September 2017.

Before opening, the pool had an extensive refurbishment with a new entrance allowing for bicycles to be securely stored on the premises and all windows and doors were replaced with UPVC units.  Friends of the Pool spent a large number of volunteer hours repainting the fences and benches around the pool.

The new solar covers proved very successful, with water temperatures often around 25 to 26 degrees Celsius, although this did drop during August due to the poor weather, but even then the lowest recorded temperature was 21 degrees Celsius.

Final usage figures for the pool are still to be determined but are expected to be over 5000 users, many of whom had season tickets.

Tuesdays by and large were the busier days due to the continuation of the free pass for TR27 residents.

Adult only lane swimming on Tuesday evenings proved to be a great success and, with the local surf lifesaving club hiring the pool on a Saturday evening for club training, the usage and profile of the pool increased.
